Hi!

I’m Leah Biery—a researcher, communicator, and non-profit leader. I specialize in turning scientific discoveries into compelling stories that inspire sustainable practices and drive environmental advocacy. Currently, I serve as the Executive Director of Education for Tampa Bay Watch.

With a background in zoology and a focus on fisheries management, I’ve studied human-baboon interactions in Tanzania and collaborated on marine conservation projects around the world. Previously, I was the Director of Communications for Sanibel Sea School, an organization dedicated to improving the ocean’s future through meaningful education. I also co-founded Mind Your Line, an initiative to reduce the impacts of improperly discarded fishing gear on wildlife.

Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to promoting fair, sustainable food systems—advocating for responsible fisheries management, supporting ethical food producers, and raising awareness about the environmental effects of our food choices.

I’ve written for a variety of publications, including magazines, newspapers, scientific journals, and blogs, and have worked with socially conscious organizations such as yoga studios, eco-tour operators, and charitable foundations to help build their brands and establish an effective online presence.

For me, caring for the planet, its creatures, and our fellow humans isn’t just a responsibility—it’s a guiding principle that shapes both my professional and personal life.

I’m based in Florida, where I enjoy reading, yoga, paddling, walking with my dog, cooking and eating vegan food, and exploring near and far.
